Y6 PE
Hockey
The children rounded off their course of sessions with Notts County Football Club by turning their hand to hockey for a mini-tournament.
Climbing
Y6 enjoyed scaling the heights at a taster session at Nottingham Climbing Centre in Hyson Green. It was lovely to see them challenging themselves on the various climbing walls.
Dance
On Fridays, Year 6 have been putting together their own hip-hop routines with our dance teacher, Mel. The children have enjoyed working in pairs and small groups showing everyone their street moves!
Our Y5 Work
Mega Fest at Harvey Haddon
On Monday 27th February, six children from Year 5 had the opportunity to attend the Year 5 Mega Fest at Harvey Haddon. Children from all Nottingham City schools were given the chance to take part in various sports activities, including curling, athletics, bench ball and dodge ball. Three children from St Mary’s achieved medals and were extremely proud of themselves for winning all their races in the athletics category. The children had a wonderful time and loved the opportunity to try curling for the first time. Maybe we will see one of them competing in curling in the Olympics in years to come!
Primary Goals
Children in Year 5 are currently taking part in a 10 week intervention programme called Primary Goals, which is being led by coaches from Notts County Football in the Community. The programme aims to impact primary children by providing a range of engaging activities to promote physical, mental and social well-being. Children participate in multi-sport activities and interactive workshops using a ‘Think-Play-Think’ technique. The project aims to build self-esteem and confidence, and provide children with a range of new skills, putting an emphasis on healthy relationships and the positive impact of teamwork.
Notts County Football Club
Year 5 is very fortunate to have Notts County Football Club visiting every Friday afternoon. They are learning to play competitive sports other than football, such as basketball. The children are also learning PE theory as well as taking part in practical activities. The Club will be in school for 11 weeks. |

PE sessions with Mrs North
Here are some photos taken during our PE sessions with Mrs North. As well as squeezing in all our after-school clubs, we still find time to have a kick-around during our busy week at school!
